Why Whittier

Whittier Preschool

Whittier is a Preschool through third-grade school. Additionally, Whittier is in the application phase for the-International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program. During this phase, Whittier will use the IB curriculum but has not yet received certification from the international organization. The IB program is inquiry-based and focuses on six core subjects. The students learn language, math, science, social studies, arts and personal, social and physical education. Teachers use transdisciplinary units to teach topics. Whittier also focuses on character development and creating learners who are: inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced and reflective. Whittier students may continue their IB education at Wainwright Intermediate or Giaudrone Middle School.
