International Baccalaureate Candidate School
Whittier Elementary is a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP).* PYP stands for Primary Years Programme . Whittier is pursuing IB PYP authorization for grades kindergarten—3rd ( as well as 4th-5th at Wainwright). Wainwright will also be pursuing MYP (Middle Years Programme) authorization for grades 6th—8th. PYP and MYP are fully inclusive programmes where all students participate in the IB curricula.

During the candidate phase, Whittier takes actions necessary to fulfill the IB requirements for authorization.
